The sixth new softball recruit, future class of 2021, signed today to become a Wesley Wolverine fastpitch player. She arrives next September 2017 on the Wesley College campus, Dover, DE.

Bianca Newsom, an
academic and athletic star.
She is Bianca Newsom from Edison, New Jersey. Among the other 2017 recruits, two more are from New Jersey (Egg Harbor & Haddon Township), two from Pennsylvania (Chambersburg & Hershey) and another out of Maryland (Cecilton).

Bianca is as comfortable tracking fly balls across outfield grass as she is snaring hard hit grounders on infield dirt. She brings a strong bat to the plate, where she also can effectively slap hit.

"Bianca is a shortstop/center fielder with a very strong arm, quick feet and possesses the skill to be a significant impact player," said Head Coach Juli Greep. "Bianca will help shore up the middle of our field and also add another solid bat to our lineup."

She's a star at Edison High School, Edison, NJ, producing academically with a 3.9 GPA and, as a two-sport athlete, on the basketball court and softball field, as well.

"She was named to the all-area (softball) team the last two years, and is also a multi-year starter at Edison High School on both the softball and basketball teams," noted Coach Greep.

"She plays for the East Coast Elite Gold (South Plainfield, NJ) which is an exceptionally high-level team who produces primarily division 1 caliber players," Coach Greep added. The East Coast Elite Gold club team plays an extremely competitive schedule at distant top flight venues like Boulder, CO. and Huntington Beach, CA., while also often qualifying for the PGF Nationals.

"We are thrilled to have a player with her experience joining our program," said Coach Greep.
