The Wesley Wolverines had a second softball recruit sign up today! She's bringing another much-needed pitching arm for the 2018 season.

It's Dori Loukopoulos from Chambersburg Area High School in Chambersburg, PA.

She's known for an astounding spin on her pitches. That is, expect a solid strikeout count from the circle -- or simply put: lots of Ks! -- and when a batter does catch up with one of her pitches, the infield should plan for grounders and pop-ups!

"Dori is a pitcher and first baseman who throws an incredibly heavy ball with a ton of spin," notes Head Coach Juli Greep.

"She also swings a very strong powerful bat that will provide stability in the middle of our lineup," adds Coach Greep.

Dori is a member of the 2016 Mid-Penn All-Conference team and a standout on the Renegades travel team.

"We are thrilled to have Dori joining the 2017-2018 squad and anticipate that she will compete for a starting position on the mound and at first," says Coach Greep.

Dori will be a Wesley College freshman in the fall of 2017. She plans to study Physical Therapy.

Julianna Neel: potential
game/ program changer

Julianna Neel signed today to join the Wesley Wolverines next fall. She is a pitcher/ first base player from Westmont, New Jersey and attends Haddon Township High School.

"We are extremely excited to have Juli joining our program," said Head Coach Juli Greep.

Julianna brings with her an impressive array of softball accolades. Not only did she earn 1st team All-Colonial Conference honors, Julianna also was voted the "best softball pitcher" in the conference as well as shining as a 3rd team New Jersey All-Group member. Last season, she notched 107 Ks over 113 innings thrown.

Head Coach Juli Greep offers high praise. "Julianna also has the potential to contribute a powerful bat offensively for us as well as play solid defense at first," Coach Greep stated.

In 2016, Julianna delivered a .419 batting average and 5 home runs for the Haddon Township Hawks.

For her travel-ball team last summer (2016), she led the 18U Silver Bullets Fastpitch to the World Fast Pitch Conference World Series Title.

Julianna's mother, Laurie, is a Wesley College alumnus. That makes the second daughter of an alumnus on the team. 2017 recruit P/UT Abbey Mayse's mother, Laura, also is a Wesley Grad and works in the Alumni office.

"Julianna is a pitcher with the potential to be a true game and program changer," Coach Greep boasts. "She consistently throws in the 60 mph range."

"It is not just the speed that makes her special," Coach Greep said. "She has tight spin and can mix speeds as well as anyone, deceiving hitters which leads to the ball missing the bat."

Julianna is part of a trio of incoming fastpitch hurlers for the Wesley Wolverines. Each is slated to play a key role.

"We are graduating the brunt of our pitching staff so having (incoming freshmen) Dori (Loukopoulos), Abbey and Juli will truly be a three deep powerful punch on the mound," said Coach Greep. "They all pitch very differently and will allow us to have a nice mix."

Coach Greep added: "The future of our program is very bright much in thanks to our outstanding 2017 senior class who have paved the way for those to come."

Ninth committed recruit
Miranda Kinney, “a strong bat,
a quality arm”, signed as Wolverine

Now there are nine – officially!

Miranda Kinney from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA, signed today as the last of the nine committed Wesley Wolverine fastpitch freshman for the 2017-2018 year.

Miranda is a catcher/ first base player who currently takes the field for Pennsylvania's Liberty High Hurricanes and the Phantoms Elite 18U travel team.

“Miranda brings with her a strong bat, a quality arm and the ability to contribute in a number of areas on the field,” affirms Wolverine Head Coach Juli Greep.

The Wolverine graduating class leaves several open positions to fill across the diamond – infield, outfield, and pitching as well as a considerable loss of lumber at the plate to drive runs home.

“Those are very big shoes to fill but we believe players like Miranda will help in the transition and bridge the gap,” noted Coach Greep. 

“The 2017-2018 season should be a fun and exciting one as we welcome 9 new faces to the program.”
